Meet our Mini-Partner, Johnny and Caladesi Island’s Gopher Tortoise, “RALPH”.
Ralph can be found walking the island searching for green leafy vegetation and kind people for a “slow” conversation.
Gopher Tortoises dig deep burrows for shelter and forage on low-growing plants. They often share burrows with more than 350 other species, and are therefore referred to as a keystone species.
Ralph and his fellow tortoises are PROTECTED under Florida Law due to their declining and threatened species count.
